Dart Vale & Haldon Harriers, Buckfastleigh Preview

Lucette Annie heads the field of entries for the Mixed Open at Buckfastleigh where the Dart Vale & Haldon Harriers host their Point-to-Point meeting this Sunday, March 17th.

111 entries have been received, and with the Open Maiden already having been divided a total of seven races preceded by two pony races at 12 noon, it looks set for an action packed day. The main card starts at 1pm with the Kath Bond memorial Members race and of the entries Uncle Keef’s connections may choose this race to follow up on his recent second to Sericina at Great Trethew. The gelding was previously unraced over fences and is showing good promise now with Deborah Treneer.

Next up is the Open Maiden races with 22 entered in each division. These have been sponsored by Winston Pincombe and Bartons Solicitors.

Totnes & Bridgetown Race Co Mixed Open could see the Simon Partridge-trained Lucette Annie follow up on her impressive victory here when she won the £1,000 West Country Champions Chase a month ago, but she will have a host of different challengers to contend with. Indiana Bay was unlucky when unseating Josh Guerriero at Bishops Court recently and Numide was another unlucky to be brought down in the same race when hampered. The gelding had previously clocked up a creditable second here to Double Bank last month for local trainer Gordon Chambers. Hameldown Tor may opt for this meeting over Wadebridge on Saturday.

The Connolly’s Red Mills Intermediate may be a race for the Chloe Roddick-trained Waldo Pepper to shine and progress from winning the Restricted at Bishops Court for Will Biddick.
The Countryside Alliance Club Members’ Novice Riders’ race may see local jockey Bryony Frost from Buckfastleigh add to her points total on either Fiulin or Wee Fly.

The Restricted race, sponsored by AGL Accountants, wraps up the days events and it also promises to be another thrilling race with several in with a chance. The Camilla Scott trained Ladfromhighworth came in second behind Robin Will here last time and had previously beaten Gontdevon by a length at Blackforest Lodge.

The course is located alongside the A38 at Lower Dean, post Code TQ11 OLT. Entrance is £20 per car load, £10 car and driver. There will be all on course facilities bar, bookies, hot refreshments and trade stands.
