The Point to Point Authority:
The PPA has arranged two Point-to-Point Doctors Orientation Days and would like to give all Point-to-Point Doctors the opportunity to attend. The days will be held at The Coniston Hotel, near Skipton in Yorkshire on Saturday 28th September and at the offices of the British Horseracing Authority (BHA) in London on Tuesday 29th October. Dr. Tony Walsh, the Medical Advisor to the Point-to-Point Authority, will be overseeing the days along with input from others. There is no charge to attend a Doctors Orientation Day and the PPA will contribute to the delegates’ travel expenses within reason.
The days will include discussion surrounding the Doctor’s responsibilities and various other areas, however it must be noted that by attending the doctors will not gain additional qualification or exemption from the current medical requirements put in place by the British Horseracing Authority (these will be the same for the 2013 / 2014 Point-to-Point season). The course is not mandatory but it is hoped to give doctors who act at Point-to-Points the opportunity to get together so as to create useful and helpful discussion.
If you are interested in attending, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org or call the Point-to-Point Authority office on 01285 841920 to request an application form. Places will be allocated on a ‘first come first serve’ basis.
