The Point to Point Owners and Riders Association, sponsored once again by Dodson and Horrell, the MFHA, Harley Racing and Windsor, have announced initiatives to aid newcomers to the sport as well as pointing stalwarts.
First season riders, who have graduated from pony racing, will again be eligible to have their first year’s subscription to the PPORA free. Also for first time riders the MFHA has waived the fee (equivalent to a day’s cap) charged for the master’s signature on the Riders’ Qualification Certificate Application form. There are also places available for first time riders on a pre-season training day to be held in Newmarket with Yogi Breisner on November 7.
Riders and owners coming in to the sport for the first time can be put in touch with mentors in their area if they contact the PPORA office (email: thePPORA@gmail.com).
Current members of the PPORA qualify for a 10 per cent discount from the MFHA on their REGIONAL hunt subscription – activated by the member contacting the PPORA office and nominating the hunt they wish to qualify with. This discount only applies to the regional subscription.
There is no increase in the PPORA subscription rates for 2013/14 and the annual PPORA club race meeting at Barbury Castle takes place on Sunday December 8, details on www.ppora.co.uk
There are over 90 PPORA races during the season and it is a condition that owners must be members at ENTRY and riders at DECLARATION. Any outstanding fees for an entry will be passed on to the PPORA and further entries from horse/owner/keeper will be suspended until the monies are paid in full via BACS.
