Can Zoe and Mike Hammond repeat last seasons raid on Black Forest Lodge?

Well known out-of the-area Black Forest Lodge raiders Mike and Zoe Hammond from Abberley, near Worcester are planning another trip to the course on December 1st when they are hoping to have three runners.

Ed Barrett will ride four-year-old maiden TURTLE TOO, who missed running last season due to foot problems which have been sorted with remedial farrier work during the summer. Barrett rode out for the Hammonds for a few weeks during the summer.

THE FERBANE MAN will run in the club race ridden by Charlie Hammond. The horse went to the Hammonds in January last year and said Mike: “He looked poor and we never had him where we wanted him due to the continual early bad weather. He was a regular 115 rated runner for Tim Vaughan, and has had a great preparation and a run anywhere near that level should see him going fairly close. We had hoped this race would still be a novice riders’ race, but never mind, he will just have to take on the men and not the boys!”

The third runner will be ICTHEC, in the older maiden, a horse the Hammonds have only had for a few weeks.Mike added: “ He would therefore be hard to assess on his home work, so the best place to try and find out is  the racecourse. He will also be ridden by Charlie.”

“We love our visits to BFL, and love to have a winner, however, I am not sure we will emulate the double of last year!”
