Taylor Pook became the first female jockey to win a Subaru Restricted Point-to-Point Series Race on Sunday 1 February, guiding ‘ToLateToBeEarly’ across the line by 2 and a half lengths at Black Forest Lodge.  There was a full compliment of female riders in the winners enclosure with Hannah Welch, second on ‘Johnny No Cash’ and Catherine Atkinson, third on ‘Walker Ridge’.  The Chloe Newman trained horse returned to winning form having been pulled up in a previous outing at Black Forest Lodge earlier this season.   The horse is now in the frame for the prestigious final at Stratford-Upon-Avon on 29th May which has a prize purse of £10,000.

Local Subaru dealer, Ashburton Motor Works Group from Newton Abbott were in attendance and displayed the new Outback model which was launched in the UK only a few weeks ago. Mervyn Wills of Ashburton commented, “we were overwhelmed with the warm welcome we received at Black Forest Lodge from the Point-to-Point fraternity and were thrilled to see one of our customers, Hannah Welch, in the winners enclosure”.

The next qualifier takes place next Saturday, 7 February for the Cambridge University fixture at Cottenham near Cambridge.
