The BRIAN ARMSTRONG MEMORIAL RACE will run at Holnicote on Saturday 7th May 2016

Following the sad news of the death of Brian Armstrong, stalwart of Point-to-Point reporting in the West Country and ardent supporter of the sport, commentator Nick Child has organised The BRIAN ARMSTRONG MEMORIAL RACE.

It will be run at Holnicote (Brian’s Favourite course) on Saturday 7th May 2015 at the Minehead Harriers & West Somerset fixture, The chosen race is the Mixed Open race which will now carry a total prize fund of £1,000!! Plus trophies.

Mr Philip Hobbs normally sponsors this race and he has very kindly offered to continue sponsoring it to the tune of £325 with the remaining sponsorship money made up by very generous donations from those who knew Brian.

Brian had a distinct “Soft spot” for Holnicote, Which surely ranks as one of the country’s most picturesque point to point courses and this Nick feels along with his wife Gill would prove a fitting tribute to a man who devoted so much to the sport of Point to point racing.

This promises to be a fitting tribute to Brian, and Nick is currently fundraising not only for the race’s £1,000 prize money, with any surplus going to pancreatic cancer charities. If you would like to donate, sponsor the race or can support the fundraising in any way, please contact Nick by telephone on 07714 613511 or email or donations can be sent to –
