Saturday 9th January

Phil Kennen has visited the course today and the going is currently SOFT. He has spoken to the course inspector and chief steward and they feel we should be able to race with the better weather forecast tomorrow, there is a final inspection 9.30 tomorrow.

The course inspection at 9.30 is to see if there needs to be any changes to the course.

Phil Kennen’s interview with Donna Birrell on BBC Radio Cornwall, on Saturday 09th Jan 2016 is available for replay at  fast forward to 2:40:50 for the interview.

Friday 8th January

Tune into BBC Radio Cornwall tomorrow 8.35am for a live interview with the chairman of North Cornwall Point-to-Point Phil Kennen about the racing at Wadebridge on Sunday

Thursday 7th January

The organisers of the North Cornwall Point-to-Point meeting which is to be held at Wadebridge this Sunday January 10th have decided to pre divided the Open Maiden race, giving a total number of eight races for the day. The decision was taken in view of the possible wet ground. The entries in each division are as follows:

Divison 1

  • Anguilla
  • Bertie’s Way
  • Crackon Pop
  • Dotties Power
  • Eddies Pearl
  • Evaweld
  • Geraldo The Sparky
  • Meldon Express
  • Miss Weld
  • Sutton Storm
My suggestions for recent form would be Sutton storm in Division one if connections decide not to run in the earlier Restricted race which he also holds an entry for, having run second here at the December meeting, and Miss Weld who has also had the benefit of a run when coming home fourth at the last meeting and showed some promise on when in the frame last season on soft and heavy conditions.

Division 2

  • Buz Barton
  • Crosbie Garston
  • Driving Well
  • Dunraven Doc
  • Follow The Paint
  • Goulane Ruby
  • Looking Glass
  • Onwegoagain
  • Ruby Fool
  • Troubleshot
In Division 2 my suggestions would be Driving well having been another to have run second at the earlier December meeting at this track, and Follow The Paint having clocked up two seconds here last season and is a consistent sort who looks to act on any going.

Wednesday 6th January

Wadebridge passed course inspection this afternoon, with Tim Dennis, Richard Linley, Nick Phillips & Phil Kennen.

Going, Soft, Good to Soft in places!

Saturday 2nd January

Phil Kennen has been to the course this morning and it’s standing up to the conditions very well after all yesterday’s rain, it would be mostly Soft with Good to Soft at fence 8 and up the hill through Finish.

Wednesday 30th December

From Nicholas Phillips via Facebook

Just to bring the NCH P2P helpers up to date, I rolled the course on Monday but didn’t dare to reverse right up to each fence as I usually do for fear of making a mess, so we need to have another treading-in session just around each fence. If anyone can spare an hour at 11am on Sunday that would be great. If anyone can spare longer, we will also be repairing the fences and moving the bends. If you can bring a short garden fork with you to help lift the divots, that would be great – it seemed to work quite well on Monday.

Please share – the more that come, the easier it is.

Thanks, Nick.

Monday 28th December

Treading in was done on Monday after racing, the forking definitely needed a bigger team!!, so with a strong drying wind and a smidgen of sunshine a dash was made for the tractor and rollers which did a marvellous job!!!

Going would be soft, good to soft in places.

Rails and hurdles will be moved to give fresh ground round the bends and down the hill.

Two stooges gardening at Wadebridge Race course, experimenting on suggestion by Mrs Harriet Graham, Clerk of Course at Mussleborough, funnily enough it works!!
