Point-to-Point enthusiasts will be heading back to Tavistock next Sunday where the Spooners & West Dartmoor will be staging their meeting at the picturesque course of Cherrybrook on April 3rd. With six races on offer and a start time of 1pm and the weather looking good. the crowds will flock to this popular picnic track for a family day out where children under 16 get in free. 78 entries have been received.

First up is the Condy Mathias-sponsored Members race in which local trainer Verity Nicholls has entered Dicky Bob, already a winner of five Point-to-Points last season, this striking grey Exit To Nowhere sired gelding has already run really well in runner up spots on two occasions this season, at both the hotly contested Chipley Park and Buckfastleigh meetings, he  is sure to go well at his local track here to defend the title he won last year.

Tyremarks of Tavistock sponsor the Restricted race in which the Reuben Chapman trained Winter Garden showed some good form last season with a win at Trebudannon followed up by a second at Bratton Down. Spillers Dream from the Nicola Martin team was running well at Cothelstone early in March until hampered and fell two out. Betty’s Boy from the Ed Walker team is another to consider after his Maiden win under Josh Newman at Buckfastleigh and with the yard going well.

The Mixed Open race sponsored by Langdon Transport follows, and of the ten entered Jepeck from the Kayley Woollacott team will be fancied after his two wins at Buckfastleigh and Charleton Horethorne so far this season under Jamie Thomas, and the yard coming into form. Commanche Conflict is another to note after his Intermediate race win at Black Forest Lodge under Sean Houlihan.

The Rock Inn sponsor the Confined race in which Robin De Souza is on a roll with five out of five wins so far for the Dean Summersby team and doesn’t look like stopping under jockey Darren Edwards. Ella Pickard trains and rides Cinevator for her Grandfather Micheal Tucker, the combination won the Confined race at Kilworthy recently in a fast time and could be the main danger. Cinevator has some good previous form under Rules with five wins and is an exciting prospect for the Pickard team.

Exeter Racecourse sponsor the Intermediate race with the Woollacott team holding two entries On Alberts Head who must be respected having clocked up wins at Larkhill and Milborne St Andrew recently, and Le Cloe de la Londe who ran second here last season. Challengers could be the Dean Summersby-trained Mausefalle looking to follow up on his second at the Kilworthy meeting, and the Edward’s team recent Kilworthy winner Shanann Star.

The Open Maiden race, sponsored by Unique Kitchens, closes the event and with 27 entries this races is likely to be divided on the day. Suggestions for the short list are the Jill Dennis-trained County Road having run third at Buckfastleigh, Druid Spitfire from the Emma Oliver team having run third at Wadebridge, The Grey Celt out of Reuben Chapmans team after his third at Kilworthy and Rockinrolldixie out of Dean Summersby’s yard, having run a good second at last weekends Great Trethew meeting and should go well if not finding this race too soon.

On course facilities include trackside parking, hot and cold food and refreshments, bar, bookies and a host of trade stands. Entrance to the course is £10 car & driver, extra passengers £10 up to a maximum of £30 per car. Children under 16 free. Location of the course is sign off A386 north of Tavistock. Postcode PL19 OLA
