The £5,000 Goffs UK Spring Sales Point-to-Point Bumper takes place at the West Country track on Thursday next week (April 21), and is one of two such races sponsored by Goffs UK. Open to horses stabled in unlicensed yards run by trainers of point-to-pointers, it follows an inaugural race held at Aintree last year. Aintree will again stage a similar bumper on Friday, May 13.
Aimed at showcasing the potential of young British point-to-pointers, each bumper is open to 4-, 5- & 6- year-olds only which have not run under any recognised Rules of Racing, and which, during the current point-to-point season, have on at least one occasion finished first, second or third in a maiden point-to-point. Each bumper is restricted to amateur riders, although they must hold Category A or B licenses.
The horses finishing first, second or third in each bumper will be offered a free wildcard entry to the Goffs UK Spring Sales that take place in Doncaster on May 17-19.
