The Eggesford Foxhounds will host the first of two Point-to-Point fixtures in the Devon & Cornwall area this weekend, with their meeting this coming Saturday 15th April at Halwill Junction.110 entries have been received with the first race off at 1pm.
Eight races are on offer with The Simpkins Edwards-sponsored Eggesford Champion Mixed Open race being the feature race of the day. Attracting some quality entries including recent Cotley Ladies open winner Parkham Jack from the Kayley Woollacot team, and Buckfastleigh Men’s Open winner Miss Gotaway out of Ed Walker’s yard. Entry Polisky hasn’t been seen since finishing second in a Hunter Chase at Fontwell last May, but could well be in the mix to snatch this if turning up for the Chloe Roddick team, connections are ground dependent as to where he will make this season’s debut .

The opening Members race, sponsored by Rangemoor & Ashgrove Kitchens, could go the way of Fishy Story for the Stuart Sampson team having won this race last season, however may have to settle for a place if the Woollacott team decide on this race for Parkham Jack over the Mixed Open race here.

The Exeter Racecourse-sponsored Intermediate race looks a hot race with dual Buckfastleigh winner Bogus du Perret entered for the Frost family, along with Culverwell who clocked up wins at Gt Trethew and Cotley for the Teresa Clark team, and Dan McGrue a winner at Buckfastleigh and Charlton Horethorne among the entries for the Jack Barber team if connections choose not to go to Little Windsor where Dan McGrue also holds an entry.

Those to note in the David Pipe-sponsored Open Maiden race for four, five and six-year-old’s, could be Canada Kid after his close third at Cothelstone for team Chanin, and Jeu de Mots out of the Jane Williams team who clocked up a second at Ston Eston.

Eastern Calm and Blazing Bouncer stand out in the TT Buildings-sponsored Restricted race both look to be progressive types, with wins at the Bishops Court and Chipley Park meetings respectively but could be ground dependent.

Two divisions of the Open Maiden race follow with suggestions being Tree Sparrow and Honest Deed in the first division having run well in Maiden races. Journey Juice and Gary are options for the second division. These Maiden races have been kindly sponsored by David Phillips Bookmakers and Blackdown Buildings.

Finally up is the Chris Hodgson Engineering Ltd-sponsored Confined race in which Chosen Lucky for team Summersby has won all five of his starts so far this season and could clock up his sixth win under regular jockey Darren Edwards. Chosen Lucky also holds an entry at the Four Burrow meeting on Monday, in his absence the vote could go the way of Daymar Bay who catches the eye after his Hunter Chase win at Ludlow last season and is now in training with the Stuart Sampson team.

Course location is 2m South of Halwill junction off A3079 -EX21 5AE. This course offers good track side parking, hot food and refreshments, bar, bookies and trade stands. Entrance is £10 per person up to a maximum of £30 per car. Children under 16 free. Dogs on leads welcome.
