Bank Holiday Monday’s meeting is to be held at Vauterhill, High Bickington where there are seven races on offer with a start time of 2pm A total of 90 entries have been received.
The Kivells-sponsored Mixed Open race will be the feature race of the day which has prolific winning mare Whenharrymetsally entered, she is a dual track winner here and could make it into the winners enclosure again for the trainer Keith Cumings and jockey Matt Hampton. Fishy Story from the Stuart Sampson yard is another mare with a track win here, she is entered in the Mixed Open and the EC Haste & Sons-sponsored Confined race, although won last weekend by an impressive 40 lengths at Berkley, then this event may come too soon.
Entry Honest Deed out of Dean Summersby’s yard, won the Restricted race here last season and could be a likely contender in the Confined race, along with It’s All Or with his connections, the Charlotte Rowe team, hoping he will bounce back from a fall in a Hunter Chase at Exeter when looking to be travelling well when close home.
In the Opening Lomas Helicopters-sponsored Members race Horwood Lad, a winner of three this season, and quickly progressing when winning the Intermediate race at Stafford Cross last weekend should put up another good performance for trainer Joe Tickle. Cinevator has won this race twice in the last two years and will be challenging to make it a treble at the course for trainer/jockey Ella Pickard.
The Restricted which is sponsored by Wades of Bradworthhy, it holds an entry from the Les Jefford-trained Ballybruff who has been placed runner up on four runs this season for Alistair Harvey, since having won at Buckfastleigh in February under Jo Supple, and deserves another win soon. Ann Maries Reject looks a progressive type and should be in the mix after her win at Bishops Court last month for trainer Christine Gray.
In the Penbode Equine Vets-sponsored Intermediate race Wind Tor looks to be likely favourite, already on a hat-trick this season for the in form Ed Walker team with wins at Chipley Park, Cherrybrook and Flete Park. Bricks And Beams is another catching the eye having won his Maiden at this track last season for the Pauline Geering team, then followed that up with a win in a Restricted at Upcott Cross, and the yard will be hoping he can bounce back from pulling up last month at Flete Park.
Mountain Las, and Gerties Garter are just two suggestions in the Jockey Club Mares Open Maiden race having both gone close finishing second at Flete Park in a divided Maiden race. This race is run in memory of Jane Wickett & William Luxton.
Finally up is the Brewer Harding & Rowe-sponsored Open Maiden race and with those to have had a run this season and shown ability are Mountain Las runner up on three occasions this season for trainer Pauling Geering at Flete, Cherrybrook and Great Trethew, and Pancrace who ran third at Larkhill for the Teresa Clark yard.
