The Four Burrow are to hold their second meeting of the season at the popular Trebudannon course near Newquay on Sunday May 13. There are seven races on offer which have attracted over 70 entries. This is a popular course for maiden horses and we are bound to see some stars of the future emerge from having their debut runs here.

Mitchell & Webber sponsor the Open Maiden race  for 4 to 6 year old horses and geldings only, which is the first race of the day due off at 2pm. Entries include the Katherine Hawke-trained Speronimo who is the highest rated having run a good second at the Axe Vale meeting last month. Five year-old debutant The Jitterbug could be an interesting horse for the future coming from trainer Keith Cumings yard.

The Spar-sponsored PPORA club members Conditions race for 7 year olds and over follows, in which the Lisa Jefford-trained Master Baker stands out having won a Hunter Chase at Taunton and a neck second in another Hunter Chase at Exeter last month.  Fly West must be a leading contender if turning up here, having won both his starts over the past two weekends for the Ed Walkers yard . Under jockey Will Biddick, who gets a good tune out of Fly West having steered him home to win by ten lengths at the Axe Vale meeting, then following that up last weekend to an easy seven length win at Little Windsor.

Pentilly for trainer Joe Tickle who has a good strike rate with maiden horses, and Way Point for the Big Brooke team both stand out in the Jockey Club Mares Maiden race having the benefits of light weights.

15 are entered in the Kivells-sponsored Mixed Open race which has attracted a quality field which includes The Two Amigos for the Nicola Martin team already unbeaten in five starts, with the latest coming at the Flete Park track, could well make it six out of six.  Master Baker if not running in earlier conditions race,  Awesome Tunes also a winner here at the previous meeting for local trainer Joanne Bryant, Golden Hoof for the Jade Barber team could be celebrating again having just celebrated the birth of their first baby Flora, and Double Captain who is already on a hat-trick of wins this season including the Ladies Open at the previous meeting here, promising a thrilling finish here.

The Tremaine Plant Hire-sponsored Confined race has Honest Deed entered for team Summersby who will be looking for a follow up to his win last weekend at Flete Park. Awesome Tunes also holds an entry and connections may decide it is a better option over the Mixed Open race for him.

The Restricted race is sponsored by Dunbie, with Earthly Reason standing out after his win at this track two weeks ago when winning by a ‘runnin’ under jockey David Pritchard for the Big Brooke team. Missyladie’s connections will be hoping that she can stay on a straight course and come good after ducking out of the race at Flete Park under jockey Tomasina Eyston.

Finally up is the C & S Perkins Open Maiden race with entries, Speronimo for the Katherine Hawke yard, and Mole Trap from the Nicola Martin team having finished in second place on their runs this season with connections hoping to see some improvement on that form.

This course offers fabulous viewing and a great party atmosphere attracting families enjoying picnics.  On course facilities are Hot food and refreshments, bar, bookies and trade stands. Entrance to the course is £10 per person Children under 16 go free. The course is located at St Columb Major signed off A30 & A39. TR9 4LP
