Crown of Thorns also holds an entry in the opening Penbode Vet Group Conditions race and will need to defy top weight. Challengers could come in the way of the Les Jefford-trained Ryves Rockey with the booking of jockey Millie Wonnacott who will be hoping to improve on their two lengths second to Skinflint at the Vauterhill meeting. Skinflint also holds an entry here as does seasons treble winning Wind Tor, also Skinflint (Gerry Supple) another on a season treble, and this could be a very competitive race if any of these turn up to compete among the 21 entered.

Jockey Darren Edwards has a ride booked in the Coodes Solicitor-sponsored Restricted race on Thewinnertakeitall for team Summersby, and could follow up on their previous win at Trebudannon, the combination have been in the frame on four of his five starts this season, with an unlucky fall at Cherrybrook ended his race when travelling well falling at the 12th fence. Golander could go well for the Gordon Chambers team, having run a close second to Banco des Logos at Trebudannon two weeks ago. Dr Rhythm (Keith Cumings) has previous National Hunt form when in training with Paul Nicholls, and had run well in second to Bubble O’Clock at Holnicote two weeks ago.

The Simpkins Edwards-sponsored Mixed Open race is the feature of the day, and with the championships hotting up, we could see Will Biddick partner Crown Of Thorns to follow up on their win here at the meeting in April. They could come up against entry Spencer Moon, the Welsh raider for trainer Luke Price and jockey Byron Moorcroft, who could follow up on the horses impressive eleven wins to date from 14 starts in Point-to-Points, and connections targeting him here should be respected. River Myth is another who could figure having won the Members race here at the last meeting for the Stuart Sampson team under jockey Darren Andrews and have clocked up an impressive five straight wins this season.

The Dodson & Horrel-sponsored Novice Riders race also has two Summersby entries with Clondaw Bunny and Cloudy Music an option for young jockey Liam Harrison. Jack Snipe ( Robert Hawker) has to be feared if turning up here, with four wins this season, the latest coming at Cothelstone, where he also holds an entry at the weekend. Blue Benny (Lucy Felton) could be a worthy each way bet to follow, having previously finished a close second to Tiger Sam at Larkhill last month.
