The opening Humfrey Small Traders-sponsored  Conditions race for Novice and Veteran jockey’s starts the day and could be the preferred option for Tom Malone’s The Last But One and give young jockey Fergus Gillard a win here. Hello George is another entry with a promising young jockey Connor Houlihan hoping he can score here for owner Nathan Vergne. Hello George was only just held in second at the recent Dunmore meeting in November and could well come on for the run. Clondaw Bunny was impressive with his two wins last season at Great Trethew and is an entry for team Summersby, also another option for Fergus Gillard to ride.

There are two divisions of the Open Maiden race which are sponsored by Waterside Meadery and The Nare Hotel. In the first division Queens Legacy, for Champion jockey Will Biddick, could go off favourite having travelled well at Dunsmore before slipping up on the final bend. Mountain Las (Sue Brown) could improve on her recent fourth at the Dunsmore meeting and had decent place form last season.

I Prefer Diamonds ran 16L third to Grumpy Charlie at the Milborne St Andrew track in a flat race, and Mustmeetforabeer ran second in a Point in Ireland and looks a promising addition to the Summersby team.

Both the Trevarthens-sponsored Ladies Open and the Moores of St Wenn-sponsored Men’s Open hold some class entries with Thomas Campbell, The Last But One, Don Poli, Chosen Lucky and Ramble On entered in both races. The Ladies race also has an interesting recruit to the Tracey Parker yard for daughter Natalie to ride Village Vic. He is a previous dual Cheltenham winner when in training with Phillip Hobbs when ridden by Richard Johnson, winning over £180,000 and rated 164. Thomas Campbell is now with Devon trainer Ed Walker, he too boasts Cheltenham wins being a treble hurdle winner there with earnings over £70,000 when in training with Nicky Henderson. Thomas Campbell is only seven and holds a hurdle rating of 157. Tom Malone’s entry The Last But One won the National Young Horse award last season, and could well follow up on his six Point wins and second in a Hunter Chase at Leicester. Don Poli boasts National Hunt winnings of over £400,000 and a rating of  168 under rules when in training with Gordon Elliot, he will be an interesting entry here and could go well for the Phillip Kirby yard based in Warwickshire. El Bandit is entered in the Men’s Open and now with Will Biddick’s yard, boasts a rating of 143 under Rules with Cheltenham and Aintree wins along with the Persian War Novices Hurdle at Chepstow when in training with Paul Nicholls, this move to Pointing could well be to the liking for the eight year old gelding.

Finally up is the Tinks Catering-sponsored Restricted race where Jill Dennis’s Neetside was an unlucky runner last season when carried out by a loose horse at Flete Park when travelling well, Trebudannon winner Thewinnertakeitall is another entry here today for team Summersby, and recent Dunsmore winner Iusetoluvheronce was impressive when winning at Dunsmore for Welsh trainer Luke Price. Les Jefford’s Merchant House’s form includes a bumper flat race win at Barbury last season, along with a second in a Maiden at Buckfastleigh under Jo Supple who looks to have the ride here again.
