Next weekend it’s the turn of the Tiverton Foxhounds meeting to take place at the popular track known as Chipley Park on Sunday 26th January. There are seven races on offer with a start time of 12 noon. 90 entries have been received.

The Mixed Open is the feature race of the day with a prize fund of £1000, with entry Art Mauresque a recent Cottenham winner, standing out for local bloodstock agent and trainer Tom Malone, with the yard bang in form at the moment. Art Mauresque has previous NH form which includes a win at Cheltenham in a Novice Chase in October 2015. They could be taken on by multiple Point winner Navanman for trainer John Heard, he has already clocked up two Open wins this season at the Wadebridge track and will need to defy top weight here. Green Winter for trainer James Ridley is another catching the eye after his one and-a-half length second to Shantou Flyer at Larkhill earlier this month.

The day opens with the Hunt Members race in which entry Jack Snipe could continue the form for Frome based trainer/ jockey Rob Hawker, who also scored at last weekends Buckfastleigh meeting, having bounced back from an injury he sustained at his yard last season. Jack Snipe won under rules when in training with Jeremy Scott, having won at the Newton Abbot, Worcester and Taunton tracks. Art of Synergy could be the ones to chase them home, having had the benefit of two outings this season, the latest when running well to finish fifth at Larkhill.

In the Restricted race Mustmeetforapint stands out for the formidable Dean Summersby team, being another shrewd buy out of Ireland having already pleased his owners with a win at Wadebridge under Darren Edwards. Will Biddick’s entry Sylvies Dance is 5lb better off in the weights, and won her maiden at Flete last season by an impressive 30 lengths. Thechaseison looks an interesting entry, out of Chris Barbers yard, should go well if following up on his eight length win at Larkhill earlier this month.

The Exeter Racecourse-sponsored Intermediate race holds interesting entries with Rio Brave( Bradley Gibbs) having won three on the bounce last season at Monmouth and the two Bovilston meetings. Awesome Tunes (Carly Mather) was consistent last season with decent place form and a win at Trebuddanon, along with Banco de Logos (Dean Summersby) also having been consistent with wins at Trebudannon and Upcott Cross.

Chosen Lucky (Dean Summersby) is the pick of the entry in the PPORA Jockey Club Novice Riders race to follow up on his Wadebridge win, and could clock up a first win for young jockey Charlotte Summersby here. Both Ramble On’s (Luke Price) decent form last season, along with Hello George who is trained by Will Biddick for owner Nathan Vergne has runner up form on three occasion this season. The two are equally rated, and could join in the battle up the hill to the finish.

The first Open Maiden is for mares and fillies in which Mini Longstocking (Jo Tickle) and Cottage Rose (John Heard) are just two to mention which look progressive, and Molly Martaline (Keith Cumings) could go well on racecourse debut.

Suggestions in the final race of the day which is the Open Maiden and looks wide open, are ex NH All Kings, Stevan Steel ran an eight length third at Wadebridge behind Mustmeetforapint, and ex Irish Dawnie Boy for trainer David Gibbs could improve on his fourth place in Ireland in October.

The course offers fantastic parkland viewing with a long uphill finishing straight which always provides thrilling finishes.
