Going Update

21st February 2020 at 15:29

We’ve been to the course at Wadebridge today with the Clerk of the Course. The going is GOOD TO SOFT, SOFT IN PLACES” with a good covering of grass. The sand will be levelled on Sunday morning. It’s looking very inviting!

Thursday, 20th February 2020 at 09:31

The Western fixture at Wadebridge has sourced doctors, vets, officials and all other personnel needed for their third try at holding a point-to-point this Sunday (23 Feb).

Tuesday, 18th February 2020

Unfortunately, due to the ground conditions, the East Cornwall Foxhounds have been forced to cancel its point to point at Great Trethew this coming Sunday 23rd February, and is now looking for another date. The Western point to point at Wadebridge, which had been abandoned, is now intending to run in its place on Sunday due to a gap in the calendar, if it can find the necessary officials. This meeting is will be a great day so please support it!

Entries will stand in both cases.

The PPA and PPSA are doing all that they can in these very difficult conditions to support the fixtures and innovative ideas that are being proposed. However, it is very difficult to put on fixtures, or change dates, at short notice due to the requirements these days. If you can help in any way, please do not hesitate to offer your assistance to your local fixture. In particular, we have a shortage of available doctors for some rearranged meetings.

13 February at 13:11

THE RESCHEDULED WESTERN POINT TO POINT HAS BEEN POSTPONED. We will consider rearranging at a later date.

12 February at 16:35

The going at Wadebridge is good to soft, soft in places. But we are still short of a vet and the weather forecast is a real concern.

10 February at 14:25

⭐️ News on postponed fixtures from the PPA ⭐️

Following the postponement of all three fixtures on Sunday due to Storm Ciara, the following rearranged dates have been agreed, dependent on the fixtures managing to find all the necessary officials required:

➡️ Western (Wadebridge) Sat 15 Feb

All timings and entries remain the same. We thank all fixtures involved for their pragmatic support in finding a solution best for everyone.

8 February at 10:45

Unfortunately due to the forecast of potentially dangerous high-winds the Western meeting at Wadebridge (Sunday Feb 9) has been postponed.

News on any plans to rearrange to follow in due course.

– The Point-To-Point Authority

7 February at 15:26

Friday 3pm. The going at Wadebridge is good to soft.

7 February at 11:24

Western Point to Point. The Course Inspector was happy with the course yesterday and a going update will be posted later today. The weather forecast is obviously a concern at this stage and the Chairman of Stewards will make a decision tomorrow.

4 February at 23:54

The going at Wadebridge today was good, good to soft in places.

1 February at 16:45

The Clerk of the Course has been to Wadebridge today and has reported that the going this morning was soft. We’ve had sunshine and a drying wind today and more dry weather is forecast from Wednesday onwards. There is a good grass covering and the course has been chain harrowed and rolled. So it’s looking good for the Western Point to Point next Sunday, Feb 9th. Entries close on Monday at 12.30pm.

30 January at 16:10

The course at Wadebridge is well draining and the weather forecast next week is mainly dry with just light rain on a couple of days. So please get your entries in for another great day’s racing. Entries close on Monday at 12.30pm.

With the recent deluge of rain and the postponement of the East Cornwall fixture at Great Trethew, the Western Hunt have been able to stage their meeting this coming Sunday 23rd February at The Royal Cornwall Showground. The team organising the event have worked hard to ensure enough Doctor, Veterinary and Official cover for the event to go ahead.  Another action packed quality race day will be on offer, with a start time of 12 noon attracting 59 entries, which stand as originally received.

The large covered barn offers all facilities such as catering, bar, food and bookies along with usual trade stands for country shopping. Parking is accessed through tarmac roads. Entrance to the course is £10 per person with under 16’s free. The course is located at The Royal Cornwall Showground off A39 West of Wadebridge. Postcode PL27 7JE.
