East Devon, Bishops Court Preview

Indianna Bay will be looking to defend his unbeaten record in Point-to-Points for trainer Jill Dennis and is entered in the Mixed Open at Bishops Court, Ottery St Mary this Saturday March 2nd.

The action takes place offering a seven race card with an earlier start time of 11.30 am. The six-year-old gelding could be challenged by older rivals such as prolific winner Come What Augustus who must be respected having won 15 point-to-points from the inform Kayley Jones yard. Also entered is the Emma Oliver trained Double Bank he recently had a comfortable win at Buckfastleigh in the Confined.

The Hunt Members looks to be a race for Sue Trump’s Tamatown who was travelling well at Buckfastleigh until weakening two out in a race won by the eye catching Robin Will.

The Brightwells Open Maiden for four to seven-year-olds has attracted 31 entries an may well be divided, those to note are the Sarah Gordon trained Canada Combe who was denied a win by a short head in a Maiden at Chipley Park, a race which was won by George Reid. Moscow Blaze ran a good race when sent off joint favourite at Cottenham, coming in third behind Driftwood Pride and Milly Malone and looks like one to follow.

Exeter racecourse sponsor the Intermediate, the Clare Hitch trained Batu Ferringhi stormed home to win a restricted by 15 lengths at Milbourne St Andrew. Another entry is the Richard Barber trained Belsinni Ron and should not be left out of the equation having taken the restricted at Larkhill for champion jockey Will Biddick.

In the Novice Riders race another Richard Barber entry Barneys Mate will be looking for a season’s hat-trick having scored at Barbury and Milborne St Andrew for jockey Martin McIntyre. Nycteos a former grade two winner under rules took the novice riders race at Chipley for Susannah Andrews.

Ladfromhighworth could take the restricted for trainer Camilla Scott having justified joint favouritism at Buckfastleigh following Robin Will in by four lengths and looks sure to take a restricted soon.

Concluding the day’s events is the Open Maiden for eight-year-olds and over which has attracted 25 entries.

Entrance is £20 per car load £10 car and driver. On course facilities include bookies, a bar and hot refreshments. Postcode EX11 1RJ.
