The going at Chipley today is unchanged good, good to soft. The wind blew the rain away over night and is due to drop during the morning. There is a power line down in Wellington please follow the diversion signs, you need to head for Milverton on the B3187. Postcode is TA21 OQU.

This weekends Point-to-Point fixture in the Devon & Cornwall area takes place at Chipley Park near Wellington on Sunday 27th January. Eight races will be on offer with a start time of 11.30. Over 170 entries have been received.

The first of three point-to-points scheduled to take place at the stunning location of Bratton Down is this coming Sunday May 20th. Pony racing which is sponsored by Gerald and Victor Dartnall, heads up the action at 12.45 with the main seven race card following at 2pm. 112 entries have been received. With championships hotting up in this the last month of the season, the racing will be even more competitive.

This promises to be a lovely family day out set in a great location with a view of Exmoor across the valley. Entrance to the course is £10 per person to max of £30 a car load, with children under 16 free. Dogs welcome but must be on leads at all times. On course facilities include hot and cold refreshments, bar, bookies and a number of trade stands. The Stafford Cross going is soft heavy in places. With just over a week to go its looking good for the Axe Vale. The course has been slightly altered and now has only 1 down hill jump and now With 19 jumps.

The Axe Vale meeting on Sunday 29th April will be held at Stafford Cross, Seaton and has attracted 120 entries for their now eight race card with the Open Maiden race already divided. Pony racing which is sponsored by Bruckland Livery heads up the action at 12 noon. Followed by the main card at 1.30pm.

Saturday 17 February 2018 – at 6.30pm

The Clerk of the Course reported the Going remains unchanged, Soft, Heavy in Places.  There was no overnight rain, it’s been another dry, sunny day and we are all set to race tomorrow.  Before racing begins tomorrow, as is usual the Going will be determined by the Chief Steward.

Yesterday Clare Wonnacott, BHA local Inspector, visited the course, found it to be in good order with the Going ” Soft, Heavy in Places”. Today, the Clerk of the Course reports the Going remains unchanged but with a current spell of fine weather set to continue to race day, the course will be drying out further all the time. Preparations are all well in hand to be ready to race on Sunday.

Tuesday 13 February 2018

The Clerk of the Course reports that following overnight rain the Going at Buckfastleigh today is “Soft, Heavy in Places”.

Heavy rain is forecast for tomorrow, Wednesday, and thereafter dry and sunny weather up to and including race day.

Local Course Inspector, Clare Wonnacott, is due to visit and inspect the Course on Thursday when a further Going Report will be posted.

A fantastic family day of Point-to-Pointing is on offer next weekend with the first of two meetings to take place at the popular track based at Buckfastleigh, South Devon on Sunday February 18. Three pony races head up the action at 11am, with the 148 cm race already divided, followed by the six race card commencing at 12 noon. 111 entries have been received.

With spring just around the corner this venue offers a fun day of racing together with many trade stands giving a warm country feel. There is a large catering tent and bar, with on course bookies.

Entrance to the course is £10 per person with children under 16 free. Dogs on leads welcome.

After heavy showers today, Wednesday, the ground for Sunday 28th is now soft with good to soft patches, however forecast is for little or no rain for the next 3 days so no problems envisaged Keith

All systems go for Sunday 28th 1st race 12 noon. Looking great at the moment all fences out and cut off, 4-5″ grass and the ground today was good to soft, soft in places. Trusting another good entry on its way as it does seem to be very popular. See you all then. Keith

With the Point-to-Point season back in full swing, the stunning location of Chipley Park is where the Tiverton Foxhounds will host their meeting, this coming Sunday January 28th.  Set in over 90 acres of parkland this has been a popular venue since the year 2000. Wednesday 18th January 2017: After a course inspection today the going remains – GOOD ,GOOD TO SOFT IN PLACES.

Monday 16th January 2017: Going – Good ,good to soft in places. Linda Courtney will provide an update during the week, after the course inspection.

Point-to-Point horse racing enthusiast will be heading to Black Forest Lodge this coming weekend, where it’s the turn of the Silverton to host their meeting on Sunday 22nd January. With an earlier start time of 11.30am and the now eight race card with 157 horses entered it promises to be another super family day out. The meeting will be celebrating 20 years of racing at this course, with quality entries attracted from around the country, the atmosphere will surely be electric.

On course facilities include hot food and refreshments, bar, bookies and several trade stands. Entrance to the course is £10 per head up to max £30 per car. Children under 16 free and dogs on leads welcome. Course is located at Kenton, nr Exeter, (off A380-EX6 8HR)
